Mission Statement

True Colors mission is to create a moveable feast of theatre grounded in the rich canon of African-American classics and branching out to include bold interpretations of world drama and a strong commitment to diverse new voices. True Colors’ signature arts education program, the August Wilson Monologue Competition, enables high school students in Atlanta and nine other cities (Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Portland, New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Greensboro and Seattle) to practice theatre craft through monologue performance. The competition provides students with scholarships in the local and national competition and offers experiences that connect students with African American theatre, social studies and literature.
