Mission Statement
The Purpose of URIAH is to combat community deterioration, relieve the poor, lessen the burdens of government, and provide other chariable and educational activities in the Roxbury and Egleston Square neighborhood which are low income and predominantly minority neighborhoods of Boston. We accomplish this through activities including but not limited to: A. Promote recreational, educational, and cultural activities for children, youth, elderly, and families in Roxbury and Egleston Square. B. Develope future community leaders to ensure the continued educational, economic, and social growth of Roxbury and Egleston Square. C. Provide a healthy and safe environment for all neighborhood residents and their families to enjoy the facilities of the neighbordhoods. Our target popluations are youth ages 8-18 that are residents of New Academy Estates housing development in Roxbury. URIAH has a daily impact on almost 250 families. 75% of these homes consist of children. Our goal is to lay a foundation and expectation that all of our children should be pursuing higher education.
