Mission Statement
JFS Greater Hartford is a nationally accredited health and human services organization that provides a full range of support for those who need it the most. We offer the highest quality services that positively impact lives regardless of income level, especially for individuals with nowhere else to turn. There is often an unconscious misconception that the Jewish community is homogeneous, white, and without poverty. In reality, the Jewish community is diverse, and many clients live below the poverty line. Though JFS is strictly non-sectarian and our programs serve a very diverse population, cultural competence is important to us, and as the only organization of its kind in our community, we provide culturally and linguistically competent support that is not available elsewhere. This specialty is only part of what we do; and JFS is here for the whole community, providing basic needs assistance, mental health counseling, financial coaching, and much more for individuals and families of all races, religions, and abilities. Mission-Jewish Family Services enhances and strengthens quality of life through the Jewish tradition of caring and compassion.
