Mission Statement
Friends of Oak Island Lighthouse (FOIL) mission is to educate the public about the Oak Island Lighthouse and its history, as well as manage the lighthouse, including raising funds for the maintenance of the structure and grounds. FOIL is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff that operates without Federal, State, or Town funding. FOIL is responsible for the maintenance, education of visitors and public access (guided tours) of this historic landmark, so that it may be enjoyed by our residents and visitors alike for generations to come. The Oak Island Lighthouse has been accepted in the “National Register of Historic Places”. FOIL is a nonprofit corporation and 501 (c)3 EIN 20-2548830 for tax purposes. FOIL is registered with the N.C. Secretary of State for 2016 as being exempt from Charitable Solicitation License requirements.
