GOLDEN HEART RANCH
Mission Statement
Currently there are 250,000 children in California with special needs, and an uncertain future. 80% of such children are never able to leave home because there is no-where for them to go. The biggest fear of the parents of special needs children is, “Who will care for my child when I am no longer able to?” The solution for many families is Golden Heart Ranch. Golden Heart Ranch will be a forty-acre community, which will provide permanent housing, community, friendships and recreation. On and off-site jobs will be provided through our organic gardens, bakery, coffee house, and farm animals. We are one of the few nonprofits in the nation addressing the serious problem of housing and jobs for special needs young adults. Our goal is to make sure our ‘Ranch Hands” have the best care and lifestyle possible from young adults to senior citizens. The work of Golden Heart Ranch is urgent, and rapidly expanding to meet the needs of California’s most vulnerable residents. We have spent the last few years building our two-fold approach to solving California’s special needs housing crisis: laying a strong foundation for our own growth and encouraging others to adopt our community living model.
