CHICAGO ARTS PARTNERSHIPS IN EDUCATION
Mission Statement
Currently, CAPE reaches about 5,000 K-12 students in 130 Chicago schools, many of whom would have no other access to arts education or its benefits. Professional development for teachers in these and other schools is a critical element of the CAPE approach to arts integration. Independent research shows that it works – teachers teach more effectively and students learn more when working with CAPE. Research confirms the improvement of both reading and math test scores for students who have been provided access to CAPE curriculum. CAPE’s art integration programs produce students who are more enthusiastic, more creative and more focused on learning.
