Mission Statement
The Trees of the Forest Pantry (The Center) places emphasis on helping local communities become self-sustaining through volunteerism/donations. Encouraging healthy eating habits in low-income families with children that may otherwise not have access to fresh food. Allowing for them to get fruits and vegetable in their local area. Its mission is to combat hunger and promote food security in our community by providing accessible, nutritious food and resources to individuals and families in need, fostering dignity and self-sufficiency. The Center provides direct food assistance, connecting with sustainable agriculture, farmer growers, distributors, advocating for policy changes, and conducting research on how to understand and combat hunger. The lack of consistent access to enough food, has significant impacts on a family physical and mental health, academic performance and over all well-being, potentially leading to chronic diseases, learning difficulties and social isolation. The Center Services include: • Free Food • Hygiene product • Nonperishable foods • Fresh foods • Other Items • Mobile panties • Access to other resources (free firewood/heating services) • Distribution of food (e.g., food free from foodbanks) • Nutritious programs/resources • Healthy Eating Community workshops Who We Service: • Low-income individuals and families • Working poor • Those experiencing food insecurity. • Seniors, Veterans and Homeless individuals The Center’s training services includes: Food safety workshops, client-centered food distributions, Free nutrition education workshops through NJ SNAP Education, USDA compliance training, Serv Safe Certification and Training, Health education, daily life skills, Volunteer Training programs, and Online resources From www.gleanersnutritionhub.org
