Mission Statement
Historic Milwaukee, Inc. (HMI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of and engagement with Milwaukee’s history, architecture, and built environment. Since 1974, we’ve connected thousands of residents and visitors each year to the city’s rich past through guided tours, lectures, and signature events like Doors Open Milwaukee and Spaces & Traces. Our mission is to foster a deeper appreciation for the unique stories and places that define Milwaukee. By offering accessible, educational, and inspiring programming, Historic Milwaukee helps people see their city with new eyes—encouraging civic pride, community connection, and preservation of the places that make Milwaukee special.
