Mission Statement
It is the mission of Neighborhood HealthSource to improve the health of our communities by providing quality health care services that are affordable and accessible since 1971. In 2011, NHS provided more than 25,400 health care visits, with two fifths of our patients having no health insurance. That means last year alone, NHS provided more than $2.5 million of subsidized care to individuals in need. For uninsured people, we determine charges by a sliding fee scale based on income and household size. We recognize that non-medical factors often impact the health of individuals and families: those who live in poverty often lack decent housing and adequate education; these factors frequently contribute to health problems. We believe that health education is an important tool in improving the well being of our patients and of the communities we serve. We continually look for opportunities to increase and improve the range of services for our patients, such as mobile mammography, nutrition and exercise classes, physical therapy, rapid HIV testing, STI screening and more.
