THE LEGACY FOUNDATION OF HARTFORD INC
Mission Statement
Founded in 2012, the Legacy Foundation works to improve educational outcomes for the children of Hartford by focusing on root causes of inequality. The Legacy Foundation was established by local finance professionals who are members of Omega Psi Phi, an internationally-renowned African-American fraternity. This group, now Legacy’s Board, wanted to bring Omega’s commitment to community stewardship, mentorship, and education to Hartford’s North End. Legacy’s programs address the disparities in educational and health outcomes for African-Americans in greater Hartford, its children in particular. Its long-term goal is to prepare a critical mass of Hartford’s children for college attendance and completion.
