Mission Statement

The mission of Hounds in Pounds, a 501c3 public charity is to end the killing of thousands of adoptable dogs in the United States daily. We are 100% not for profit and to date have relied solely on donations from the public. We have come up with a multi-faceted approach combining rescue, adoption, spay/neuter outreach and public education. We are a lifeline for thousands of cats and dogs that otherwise wouldn’t stand a chance. As one can imagine, the costs associated with running an operation of this magnitude are extortionate, and it is only thanks to our amazing team of dedicated volunteers and the benevolent donations of our followers that any of this is possible. Animals rescued by Hounds in Pounds are transported to private veterinarians for proper medical treatment, where they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and tested for heartworm before being placed into new, loving homes. Hounds in Pounds Rescue does have a President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer and while that is important it really is just a formality for us. We work as a team, we communicate from sunrise to sunset and there are so many moving pieces that make our team a success. We make each decision as a team and respect each other’s opinions. Each dog we pull to safety is a member of our team as well and to be clear we are working for them, these dogs are our fearless leaders and we look to them for hope, inspiration and sometimes the strength to keep going. We also consider our followers, donors, adoptive families, rescue partners and the rescue community a direct extension of our team. Without each of these moving parts, Hounds in Pounds Rescue wouldn’t be able to do what we do. HOW CAN YOU HELP US?
