MONEY ON BOOKS
Mission Statement
Money on Books (a Support Group for inmates and their children) is contesting mass incarceration and recidivism, by recruiting and redirecting those who could become victims of it. Children whose parents have been arrested and incarcerated face unique difficulties. Many have experienced the trauma of sudden separation from their primary caregiver, and most are vulnerable to feelings of fear, anxiety, anger, sadness, depression, and guilt. They may also be placed in foster-care, kinship care, or experience multiple group homes, which may increase their vulnerability and instabilities. It is time to bring these children out of the shadows and assist their families by giving them the support they need. Money on Books is leading the way by assisting these children with much needed items such as “A pair of shoes, one winter coat, one back pack, and a laptop, per child”. Together with Money on Books, you can help these children feel loved and valued—unlocking their potential for a brighter future. Our goal is to raise $1,000.00 per child, to provide them with various items that may be needed for personal use, as well as supplies for school.
