Mission Statement
If you’re not familiar with our organization, we are a non-profit which oversees the Smith Island Cultural Center on Smith Island, MD. It operates as a museum between April-October and sees over 2100 visitors annually. Our main goal is to ensure island history is preserved for years to come and to educate others about our unique customs, beliefs, and lifestyle. We also educate the public about the history of working on the water. We are honored to host fieldtrips for local schools and organizations at all educational levels such as Woodson Elementary, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Chesapeake College. We also offer free admission to children 12 or younger.
