COMMUNITY KITCHENS INC
Mission Statement
Our mission is to ensure everyone in Oakland as access to a hot nutritious meal every day. We believe food is a basic human right. Over 4,000 members of our community are unhoused and without access to one hot, nutritious meal every day. Our meals go out to meet the food needs of Oakland’s unhoused, shut-in seniors, and others who are without other means to find that one meal every day. Community Kitchens started as a re-purposing of Oakland’s restaurants to provide hot meals for those in need during the Covid-19 crisis. Funds raised are used to purchase low-cost meals from Oakland restaurants for donation to local non-profit relief organizations who distribute directly to our community. Offering triple benefits, feeding those in need, retaining local jobs and supporting local restaurants.
