THE SANDLOT
Mission Statement
I am writing to request that you would consider my non-profit organization, The Sandlot, FEIN 85-2782297, Public charity status 509(a)(2). It is the mission of The Sandlot to reach the children in our community. Our goal is to not only teach our local youth the fundamentals and strategies of baseball and softball, but to also teach them the skills they will need to be positive and productive adults in our community. Teamwork, Perseverance, Commitment, Passion and a great Work Ethic are all stressed at our facility. Due to the rising cost of rent and utilities, we are requesting funding to update equipment and continue to be able to keep the facility open. Funds are always used for equipment, safety gear, nets, batting tees, baseball and softballs, and other costs involved in running an indoor sports facility. We provide water and a snack cart for all players that come through the facility. We also provide free baseball and softball camps with high school coaches and players as well as college players donating their time and talent to run these camps. At the last camp in November 2021 we had over 200 players (6-12 years old) and provided t-shirts and lunch at no charge. An average of 400 kids per week enter our facility. Our goal is to eventually be able to offer free facility usage and provide free lessons on a regular basis from local high school and college players.
