Mission Statement
The Zach Herrera Memorial Fund is located in North Canton, Ohio and became a non-profit organization in 2022. Our mission is to carry on Zach’s legacy by raising money for scholarships to give to local athletes who are most like Zach. Not the biggest or fastest or most popular player on the field but someone who works hard to prove they deserve to be out there. Zach tragically passed away at 16 years of age in 2016 from a brain AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) which is an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, bypassing the capillary system. It’s usually present at birth. The arteries and veins in an AVM can rupture, causing bleeding into the brain or spinal cord. Zach was a football player for the North Canton Hoover Vikings. He was an undersized but hard working lineman who had to prove himself every time he stepped on the field. He was a friend to all and went out of his way to make sure nobody was left out.
