Mission Statement
The San Juan Community Theatre is a federally qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to enriching the lives of island residents and visitors through YOUTH & ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS, LIVE CONCERTS, THEATRE PRODUCTIONS, OPERA, FILM SCREENINGS & more. With over 135 events each season, SJCT is the largest arts organization in San Juan County and a hub for arts and culture in Friday Harbor. (SJCT) was established in 1985 by a talented & dedicated group of islanders who wanted to support the theatre arts and offer future generations opportunities in the arts on San Juan Island......“With talents like these on this island, the least you can do is put a roof over their heads.” Governed by a Board of Trustees, and addition to a small staff (most positions are part-time), more than 250 volunteers keep the Theatre in full motion year-round. The proceeds from our fundraising efforts play a crucial role in supporting SJCT’s productions and programs, including volunteer-driven staged theatrical productions, outstanding touring musicians, free admission to anyone unable to afford theatre tickets, scholarships towards our youth educational classes and productions, and so much more. Over 75% of our operating revenue comes from supporters who believe in our mission to Enrich Community Through Performing Arts!
